Thinking about checking out the new 2026 Ford F-250? This heavy-duty pickup has been powering long days at job sites and recreational outings for decades. It’s a powerhouse of capabilities, ready to move mountains (or at least mountain-sized vessels), and streamline almost any task.

Ford has continued to make the F-250 more tech-savvy and modern with each generation. We’ve loved seeing the advancements in this hardworking truck, and Ford did not let us down with the 2026 model. Today, we’re covering the highlights of the model that we think its fanbase is going to love.

We know that F-250 owners tend to rise with the sun and work until it sets. We know they often wear work boots rather than designer boots, and work with devices like saws and drills instead of laptops and projectors. Hardworking, industrious, and ambitious individuals are drawn to the F-250, and if that’s you, we’re confident you’ll like what you find in the 2026 model.

Performance

Performance is a top priority for F-250 drivers. Many rely on this heavy-duty pickup to keep their operations running smoothly. When you need to move massive vessels across worksites or transport valuable cargo across states, you need to know that your truck can handle it.

Capabilities

The 2026 F-250 is ready to keep up with your ambitious agenda. It can tow up to 23,000 lbs, opening up a world of possibilities. Whether you need to tow a tractor across a farm or an RV across the country, the F-250 is up for the challenge.

You can also support up to 4,246 lbs in the truck’s bed. So feel free to load it up with equipment, tool boxes, dirt bikes, mobile work benches and whatever you need to stay productive. The sturdy, high-strength steel box can handle it.

Engines

The 2026 Ford F-250 is available with a lineup of powerful and dynamic engines, right for a range of applications. The starting engine is a 6.8L V8 gas engine, producing 405 hp. Next up is a 7.3L “Godzilla” V8, delivering 430 hp.

Next, you get into the diesel options. The first is the 6.7L V8 turbo-diesel, delivering 475 hp. The top engine is the 6.7L High Output Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel, producing 500 hp. Between these powertrain options, it’s easy for consumers to select the model offering the right blend of abilities and efficiency for their unique tasks.

Transmissions

You’ll also have two transmissions available to you in this truck. The starting option is a TorqShift-G 10-speed automatic transmission. You will find this transmission on all gas engines, and it’s designed for optimum towing abilities. Five drive modes are built into this transmission: Normal, Slippery Roads, Eco, and Tow/Haul.

On the diesel engines, you’ll get the TorqShift 10-speed automatic transmission. This transmission’s towing performance mirrors that of the first transmission. However, it is designed to support the higher torque of the PowerStroke turbo-diesel engine. This transmission offers the same drive modes as the former but, with the Tremor Off-Road Package, adds Rock Crawl and Trail Control for better command in challenging environments.

Trailering Technology

If you plan on taking advantage of the F-250’s tremendous towing abilities, you’ll appreciate the technology that helps you do so with more command and more precision.

Keeping You Alert

Ford created the 2026 F-250 with a suite of technology features designed to reduce common trailering troubles. One of these is the Blind Spot Information System, which is active while towing. It helps you monitor your blind zones, not just for your truck, but your towed vessel, too. The system will alert you if someone enters your trailer’s blind spot, providing further alerts if you activate your turn signal when someone is in that zone so you don’t make an unsafe lane change.

Onboard scales with smart hitch make sure you’ll get through weigh stations once you’re out on the road. If you’ve ever had to turn back at one, then you know what a hassle it is, making this feature a major perk. The onboard scales will measure the weight in your bed to ensure you don’t overload it. You’ll find this information on the center display. Meanwhile, the Smart Hitch feature measures the tongue weight, so you can hit the road knowing your truck will get you where you need to go with everything you need.

Moving in reverse with a trailer hitched to your truck can be a tricky maneuver. A helpful human spotter can do their best, but they usually make errors. Pro Trailer Backup Assist takes over this job. It lets you steer your trailer using the Pro Trailer knob, so you can make sure your trailer is headed exactly where you want it to go, whether you’re backing a boat down a dock or a camper onto the lot.

Hitching Up Your Trailer

Dynamic Hitch Assist further eases hitching a trailer to your truck. Synced up with the rearview camera on your pickup, this system shows real-time guidelines on your center display when you’re in reverse. So you’ll know exactly where your truck is headed while you line it up to your hitch.

Want faster hitching jobs? Pro Trailer Hitch Assist can help with that. When you press the Pro Trailer Hitch Assist button, it takes over steering, accelerating, and braking, guiding your truck into position for seamless hitching. So you can skip the hassle of climbing out of your cab to visually check if your hitch is lined up.

Watching Out for You

Keeping an eye on the road and your trailer can be a lot to manage. Luckily, the 2026 F-250 offers the Smart Trailer Tow Connector. It lets you know when an issue with your trailer requires your attention. You can find these notifications on the cluster display, within the Towing menu. Examples include notifications of a burned-out turn signal lamp or trailer battery issues.

Trailering or not, you’ll like this next feature: a 360-Degree Camera. It will give you a comprehensive look at what’s going on around your vehicle at all times. And when you’re handling a truck as big as the F-250, extra help monitoring your surroundings is always a perk.

Convenience and Utility

If you’re a busy professional with a pickup, your duties can look very different from one moment to the next. You might be sawing materials in the morning and filling out invoices in the evening. So you need a truck with convenience and utility features that can keep up, and the F-250 is that truck.

Interior

Inside, you’ll find an available work surface that lets you turn your cab into a mobile office. It gives you a large surface to spread out blueprints, review contracts, fill out forms and more. Plus, when you aren’t using it, it neatly folds into the center console.

Need to transport important files or documents that you don’t want prying eyes to see? Take advantage of the available rear folding under-seat storage box. Located within the floor of the truck, it gives you a discreet place to store valuable items.

Exterior

Never quite sure what the power outlet setup will be at the next job? The Pro Power Onboard can relieve some of that anxiety. It delivers up to 2kW of power, via outlets right in your truck bed. Think of all of the ways you can use that! Plug in power tools at job sites, small TVs at tailgates, or mini fridges at campsites.

If you load and unload your bed frequently, that up-and-down action can be hard on your tailgate over time. That’s why the available Power Tailgate is a nice touch. It lets you gently lower and raise your tailgate with the push of a button or nudge. That should extend the life of the hydraulics. You’ll also find a retractable step as part of this feature. This gives you an easy, sturdy place to stand while you grab things in your truck bed.

Find yourself working after sunset or before sunrise? The available LED sideview mirror spotlights and security approach lamps, along with wraparound lamps, boost visibility when it’s dark out. These are also handy when you’re camping far away from any street lights.
