The 2024 Ford F-150 marks over 100 years of Ford trucks. That is more than a lifetime of creating dependable and innovative trucks that have shaped the automotive industry. Ford’s first foray into the truck world came in the form of the Model TT, which was introduced in 1917. With its spoked wheels and hand-cranked engine, it has very little in common with today’s Ford truck. It can be difficult to see their connection. However, without the Model TT, there may have never been a Ford F-150.
With each passing year, the Ford F-150 becomes more advanced, driving further away from the Model TT that started it all. This is especially true with the latest 2024 model F-150, which has been refreshed for the new year. Inside and out, Ford fans will see subtle and some not-so-subtle changes, like new wheel options, lighting, and the addition of the Pro Access Tailgate.
A new standard engine takes its place as the most dramatic change, with multiple powerful engines waiting to be subbed in. The series of cab styles and bed sizes keep the options flowing. A suite of safety and driver assistance features, along with many available upgrades, turn the Ford F-150 into a futuristic version of the Model TT. From towing and trailering to off-roading and adventuring, the 2024 F-150 is the truck for you.

Towing and Hauling
There are few trucks out there as synonymous with power and hard work as the Ford F-150. For nearly half a century, the F-150 has been setting the standards for what a work truck should be, earning its place as a top seller year after year. The 2024 model is no different, with impeccable towing and hauling features.
Earning best-in-class status for both payload and towing, the F-150 can take on any job with ease. For hauling, the 2024 Ford F-150 offers an available payload max of 2,455 lbs when properly equipped. Plus, with the newly updated Pro Access Tailgate, hauling is easier than ever.
A Revolutionary Tailgate
The Pro Access Tailgate once again sets the F-150 apart from the rest of its truck competitors, giving it the only 100-degree, fully-opening integrated swing gate in its class. The unique design of the Pro Access Tailgate allows for easy access to the truck bed and cargo by opening up like a car door, as well as swinging open like a traditional tailgate. By changing up the tailgate’s configuration, occupants gain 19 inches of additional reach, minimizing the need to tippy-toe your way to your cargo.
The tailgate design takes towing into consideration, providing a built-in stop that keeps the gate from swinging into the trailer jack. Ford also considered how the tailgate would work with bed accessories and covers, making it not only easy, but convenient to customize your F-150. Part of that customization is the option to forgo the new tailgate design and stick with the previous model, which had plenty of its own appeal. A mobile workstation, the classic tailgate offers integrated tools, a cup holder, and more.
If your interest is in towing rather than hauling, don’t fret because the F-150 is a Jack of all trades. When properly equipped, the F-150 offers a best-in-class max available towing of 13,500 lbs. Offering advanced trailering tech, the Ford F-150 can push the limits of what you think is possible. Pro Trailer Backup Assist is one of these features, taking the guesswork out of reversing with a trailer. Instead of trying to steer both truck and trailer, Pro Trailer Backup Assist provides easy control of the trailer when reversing. A turn of a knob allows the driver to steer the trailer, keeping it in sync with the truck.
If that wasn’t enough to sell the Ford F-150 as the ultimate trailering truck, then perhaps its artificial intelligence is. Adapting advanced technology for use in the automotive industry is nothing new, but Ford’s Pro Trailer Hitch Assist is. Using artificial intelligence, the hitch assist program takes over steering, braking, and accelerating so that it can perfectly line up truck and trailer for easy hitching. When it comes to towing, trailering, and hauling, the 2024 Ford F-150 takes the cake.
Performance and Capability
Athletic Engine Choices
Thanks to Ford’s plentiful engine options, the 2024 Ford F-150 can handle a wide range of tasks. It all starts with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, combining power and efficiency for a more thrilling experience. The V6 is a twin-turbo setup that offers 325 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque.
For a little bit more in the power department, Ford offers a gas-powered 3.5-liter V6 that pumps out 400 hp. This EcoBoost also uses a twin-turbo design, which is partially to thank for the increased power. With Ford’s focus on hybrid and EV technology, it comes as no surprise that the 3.5-liter EcoBoost comes in a hybrid variety. The 3.5-liter PowerBoost is that variety, offering hybrid performance in the form of 430 hp. For anyone who enjoys the sounds of the V8, don’t fear because the 5.0-liter V8 is another engine option.
If you thought that was all, you are sorely mistaken. With the most off-road capable F-150 trims still on the table, there is plenty more power to be seen. The Raptor comes off the line with a 3.5-liter V6 High Output block that makes 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. Then there is the Raptor R. Taking it up a notch—or ten—the Raptor R is equipped with a 5.2-liter Supercharged V8 that explodes with at least 700 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque.
Taking It Off-Road
From powerful to wow, the Ford F-150 offers a solid lineup of engine options designed to make every drive a memorable one. Each engine option is mated to a 10-speed transmission and can be equipped with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Taking the F-150 from road to off-road is pretty easy, especially if riding in the Raptor or Raptor R.
For the 2024 model year, the Raptor received some snazzy upgrades, which include FOX Dual Live Valve shocks for ultimate off-road comfort. While many manufacturers can boast advanced suspension designs, only Ford can claim the benefits of their Ford algorithms. Programmed to continuously adjust to changing terrain, the F-150 Raptor dominates whatever road lays ahead.
The Tremor also offers some unique features designed for off-road adventures. A WARN 12,000-pound winch comes factory-installed, providing strength when you need it the most. Other optional add-ons, like a light bar for increased visibility, enhance the Tremor’s capabilities. The Tremor is fitted with a unique front bumper, designed perfectly for the winch or the lightbar, so you can choose what suits your needs best.
As technology improves and evolves, so does its application in the automotive industry. Ford has been a pioneer in this area, using technology to improve both Ford vehicles and the experience of Ford drivers. From safety and driver assistance features to convenience options, Ford has utilized technology in the best ways possible.
All trims come standard with an expansive 12” touchscreen buried in the center stack to provide access to the latest programs and apps. Mirroring the touchscreen is a 12” digital instrument cluster, providing a clear window to important driver information. For greater visibility and improved safety, Ford now offers a Head-Up Display option for the F-150, allowing information to be projected directly onto the front windshield.
All Ford F-150 trims come with a suite of standard driver safety and assistance features designed for whatever life throws its way. There are a total of 10 features that come standard, ranging from Ford’s Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert to Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. On top of the standard features, Ford offers a variety of available advanced features to choose from.
Ford BlueCruise is one of these available options and an exciting one at that. Ford BlueCruise takes cruise control to a whole new level, providing hands-free driving assistance. BlueCruise roads exist throughout the US and Canada, providing stress-free freeway driving. Lane changes, speed control, and even driver awareness become automatic, changing the way we drive and the way we ride.
Further elevating the truck game, Ford owners have the option to equip their trucks with the Pro Power Onboard, a built-in generator to power everything from power tools to rec equipment. With ample power, the Pro Power Onboard can power small appliances during a power outage, supply power at a work site, and can even power a workshop when properly equipped. Ranging power outputs allow for what you need depending on how you intend to use your vehicle.
Whether the F-150 is sent to work or decked out for fun, there is tech designed for it. Both standard and available features are changing the rules of the game, giving consumers more options than ever before. With a self-driving truck on the horizon, the question is, what will come next?
