No matter what kind of work you do or what sort of business you run, you deserve to have the best equipment and vehicles designed to help you get your job done. For many companies, a box truck is ideal for handling large amounts of cargo that need to get from one place to another. You might find yourself looking for a box truck for sale for a wide range of reasons, from being in the last-mile delivery business to wanting to offer deliveries to your customers, or you might even have a moving company and want to expand your fleet. Whatever the reason, Ford is the perfect choice when it comes to getting your next box truck because they offer a wide range of options designed to meet just about any need. Let’s take a look at your options for putting together a box truck with the power and reliability that Ford is well known for.

Ford Super Duty Chassis Cabs

We’re going to start with a great general-use option, though you won’t mistake it for a Ford truck you’ll see in someone’s driveway. The Super Duty Chassis Cab models are based on the standard Super Duty trucks but give you the cab and a platform to build upon as you put together the perfect box truck. You have four different models here, including the F-350, F-450, F-550, and F-600; this gives you tremendous freedom to get exactly what you need. You’ll find numerous trim levels on many of these, too, so you can customize your truck with the features you want. That said, you can still get impressive power and capabilities from these trucks: the F-550 offers a Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) of up to 43,000 lbs, while the F-600 has a GCWR of up to 43,500 lbs.Ā

Ford F-650 and F-750 Models

If you don’t need any of the options offered by the Super Duty Chassis Cab models, then the next place to look for even greater power and capability is the F-650 and F-750 from Ford. These are incredible trucks offered exclusively as straight-frame versions, so you don’t have to worry about navigating a bunch of different options or making sure you’re looking at commercial versions of these trucksā€”they only exist for commercial purposes. You have two engines available for these two models: a 7.3L V8 gas engine with 335 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque or a 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine with up to 330 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque available. Both engines have great performance, perfect for a box truck, so you can choose the one that best meets the needs of your company. You can get a GCWR of 50,000 lbs and a GVWR of 37,000 lbs with these trucks.

Ford Transit Chassis Cabs and Cutaways

If you’re looking to keep things simple and you already have a box upfit in mind that you want to use with your next truck, then one of the best options to consider is a Transit Chassis Cab or Cutaway model. These are simple, straightforward truck cabs designed to perfectly meet your needs and give you what you’re looking for without bogging you down with a lot of options. That said, you still have your choice of a Chassis Cab or Cutaway design, plus there are two engines to choose from and three different wheelbases that let you pick from different body lengths and weight ratings. Available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive provides you with a truck that can go just about anywhere, and you get up to 11,000 lbs of GVWR when properly equipped.

Ford F-Series Stripped ChassisĀ

So far, we’ve looked at great truck options that work well for a wide range of applications and simply require the right box installed behind the cab. If you want something that’s a blank canvas for you to build the perfect truck onto, then you can’t get much more stripped down than a Ford Stripped Chassis model. With an F-Series Stripped Chassis, you get the engine, powertrain, steering system, wheels, and base frame with little else to get in your way as you build the perfect truck onto it. The F-59 Commercial Stripped Chassis comes with a standard 7.3L V8 engine that offers 335 hp and 468 lb-ft of torque; you have seven different wheelbases available with Gross Vehicle Weight Ratings (GVWR) of up to 26,000 lbs. Ford even offers a Parcel Delivery Package to create a walk-in box truck that is available across three wheelbases and has upfit bodies from 16 feet to 24 feet in length.

Ford E-Series Cutaway Models

Ā So far, all of the truck options we’ve looked at have been part of the Ford F-Series, but those are not the only ones available. If you’re looking for something different, then you should check out the Ford E-Series and the cutaway models that are offered. The E-Series utilizes a different design and form factor with fewer overall options than the F-Series, but it can still meet a wide range of needs. For one thing, you have just a few models available: an E-350 with a single rear-wheel setup, an E-350 with dual rear wheels, or an E-450 dual-rear wheel cutaway. Whichever model you choose, it will come with a 7.3L V8 gas engine that offers 325 hp and 450 lb-ft of torqueā€”the E-450 has a GVWR of 14,500 lbs. Please note, also, that the E-Series is only available as a cutaway and not a chassis cab, so keep that in mind when exploring your options.Ā

Ford E-Series Stripped Chassis

Just like the F-Series, if you’re interested in something that’s completely stripped down and offers a basic framework to build upon, then there’s an E-Series Stripped Chassis that’s perfect for that. This is an engine, powertrain, steering, wheels, and other necessary systems on a basic frame that you can then build upon with the cab, box, and other equipment you need. You get the same 7.3L V8 engine here as the E-Series Cutaways, and you can pick either the E-350 or E-450 base; both models have different wheelbases available (up to 176 inches long), and you can get a GVWR of up to 12,500 lbs with the E-350 or 14,500 lbs with the E-450 Stripped Chassis.

Ford E-Transit Chassis Cabs and CutawaysĀ

One final option we want to mention is the latest E-Transit series of commercial vehicles, which provides you with impressive power and performance with all-electric engineering that eliminates the need for gas stops. Although the E-Transit Cargo Van is getting a lot of attention these days, there are also Chassis Cab and Cutaway models available that you can easily build into the perfect box truck to meet the needs of your business. All models give you a fully electric powertrain that provides 266 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque plus a GVWR of 9,500 lbsā€”the Chassis Cab has a maximum payload of 3,960 lbs while the Cutaway offers a 3,997-lb payload rating. This option is perfect if you’re looking for something to drive 100 miles or less each day without ever needing to stop for gas since you can recharge them overnight and be ready the next morning to get some work done.

Build a Ford Box Truck With Everything You NeedĀ

As you can see, Ford gives you plenty of options to choose from when it comes to putting together the perfect box truck for your business. Navigating all of these options isn’t always easy, which is why it helps to work with people who understand Ford commercial trucks inside and out. The last thing you ever want is to invest in a powerful, hard-working truck to help you get your job done, only to realize you missed out on something that you would’ve preferred or to end up with a vehicle lacking the power to deliver what you need. That’s why we’re here at Future Ford of Sacramento with a dedicated fleet sales team ready to make sure you find the perfect box truck. All you have to do is decide what you need your truck to be able to handle, and we’ll take care of everything else.
